University of Ibadan: A Freshman's Arrival Day Odyssey

Today, as I stepped out of my hostel, Abdusalami Abubakar Hall, the sight of a bustling crowd in front of Idia Hall caught my eye. It was a lively scene, a reminder that fresh students were arriving on campus for the start of the 2023/2024 academic session. Boarding a tricycle headed for the gate, I noticed several young people clutching files, likely freshmen undergoing their screening process. The atmosphere was electric with anticipation. Upon reaching the gate, I was greeted by a sea of people—a vibrant tapestry of activity. Students were lugging suitcases, hauling bags filled with belongings, and even transporting tables, chairs, and cutlery—all the essentials for their new lives on campus. It was a captivating spectacle, a snapshot of the excitement and chaos that mark the beginning of a new academic year.
